Only %1 left

Project Overview

The project area spans the Yoni and Masimera Chiefdoms in the Tonkolili and Port Loko districts. Prior to the project, the land consisted mainly of grasslands, with some forest patches and limited agricultural use. The region experiences a tropical climate with heavy rainfall during the wet season and dry months

Solution Description

The project focuses on planting over 4,000  hectares with carefully selected tree species such as Eucalyptus pellita, Acacia mangium, and Tectona grandis. The land is leased from local communities with government approval. The initiative includes worker training programs and improvements to local infrastructure, such as health centers and educational facilities.

Impact

The plantations play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions while supporting local communities. By creating opportunities for residents, the project hopes to enhance livelihoods and foster economic growth in surrounding villages, contributing to environmental and social sustainability.
